Number 7!
Ryu
Company: Capcom
Main Series: Street Fighter
Coming in at number 7 is Ryu from the widely known Street Fighter series. Next to everyone has played atleast 1 round of Street Fighter, it has ruled the fighting genre for over 10 years. The original street fighter first hit the arcades in 1987, and although it wasn\'t the more impacting game, it still made a small impact. The game had two playable characters, 1st player:Ryu and 2nd player: Ken. These two characters would serve as some of the most memorable fighting characters, and characters in general. The game has was difficult, Hadoukens and all Ryu\'s main moves were special moves, so they were insanely difficult to perform. In 1991 Capcom released the sequel into the arcades, and the game would shape the direction of the arcades for nearly a decade. Ryu became a fighting game icon, even to the point of rivaling companies copying his character design (Snk). The game would rule arcades over the next 5 years, each yeah coming out with a new version with new characters and or features. It wasn\'t until 95 that a prequel was made to the series in \"Street Fighter Alpha\". Ryu and Ken have appeared in every Street Fighter game to date, their simplistic yet complex gameplay will be familiar in any street fighter you\'re playing. Street Fighter 2 wouldn’t get a sequel until 97, when street Fighter 3: The New Generation was released. Even to this day a completely new 2d street fighter hasn’t been made after 98. Ryu has made his home in the Capcom Vs. series and other rehashes.
The list only gets better :bounce:
I\'ll also be doing the \"worst character ever award\" at the end of the countdown :bounce:. Anyone think they know who that would be?
