No. It\'s just a terrible game.
Quote from IGN
Disappointingly, the platformer also features a horrendously malfunctioned camera system that catches on environments or even occasionally runs amok for no particular discernible reason. The result? Commonly frustrating undertakings where the goal is to burst forward and gain speed, but before that can happen Shadow crashes into enemies and loses rings, or simply goes careening off a ledge. These impossibly trying outcomes are worsened because Shadow moves loosely through the worlds he explores, which at times makes precision navigation an insurmountable hurdle.

Ign reviewed it: 5/10
Gamespy reviewed it: 2/5

My advice: Dont buy the game. Go buy Sonic Rush, Mario Kart, Re4 or even a ball of yarn.

If it wasnt for Rush, I\'d probably be disowning Sonic right now. This game is actually worse than Heroes, I didnt think it was possible.

On the flip side.
Rush is amazingly fun. Though I cant say it\'s better than the Gen games, I can definitly say it\'s better than the advance series. The game gives you feel of the gen days, with the music, nice levels and everything. The music is awesome, seems very Jet Set Radio inspired (For anyone who has plau JSR, you\'ll now that it\'s a great thing) Pick this game up.. it\'s Sonic rendemtion after Heroes and Shadow...

So Sonic Rush is teh awesome and Shadow is teh suck?

Well, I could’ve told you that without playing them!

Shadow... is quite possibly better Heroes. Because nothing can be worse than that, right?

They should’ve named it SHADOW OF THE HEDGEHOG, really.

Sonic Rush is like a true continuation of the Mega Drive series. As for the music... they had the Jet Set Radio guy do it. Actually, I read how it’s, supposedly, not that good, in comparison with the legacy.

So Shadow is a letdown? Not suprising.

Time to go read a walkthrough and spoil the game because it sucks.

I think I will buy Rush though.

Actually, that next gen Sonic looks a lot like Sonic Adventure -- with high(er) res textures.

As Fugen said, Shadow fans will find it alot more appealing..

I finished the game today... there\'s about 11 endings in total.. one being the \"Ultimate Ending\" which pretty much voids the others, making them pointless...

Spoiler time..
Shadow is the original, however he has alien blood! OOO. Basically Dr. Gerald Robotnik, while creating Shadow, needed help from Black Doom, so doom gave his blood to create Shadow. Dr. Gerald intended Shadow to stop the aliens however, so he created the eclipes Cannon to blow the alien comet up. You face Black Doom going nuts alone, since Sonic and friends are frozen..., The battle consists of Shadow shooting haduken choas spears at Black Doom\'s eyes.. it\'s a step up from Metal Overlord, but not on par with the adventure ending bosses. Shadow defeats him, blows up the comet and finally puts his past behind him.. they show this by having him say \"Good Bye Shadow The Hedgehog\" then throwing his picture of Maria and Dr. Gerald.

WHAT THEY HEY!? We don\'t have spoiler tags?!

Anyways, here\'s how to sum up the gameplay. Take Sa2\'s speed levels, screw with the camera even more, screw with the controls and and add in guns, and virtually everything that was fun about SA2\'s levels, also add most of the gameplay of Sonic Heroes.

I played my friends copy. Is it just me or does shadow look really bad when he runs? I\'m pretty sure he ran better in SA2.

Well... Sonic Riders (which comes out in Feb) already has sequals...coming out for next gen however.

I\'m hopinh Sonic Riders isnt a complete bust... I mean, Sonic team hasnt really made many racing games.. but they cant screw it up right? Anything is better than Traveller\'s Tales crappy Sonic R.

Kikizo: That clears that up. So, there are a lot of different Sonic titles right now, what are your personal hopes for the future of the Sonic franchise? Will you be working on the Sonic the Hedgehog 15th Anniversary game?

Yuda: I\'m not actually involved with the 15th Anniversary title. I\'m involved in something quite big, so I can\'t really say what. As for the whole Sonic franchise\'s future, of course the regular Sonic action games will continue and have more sequels. Sonic Riders is also going to have some sequels, which will appear on next generation consoles. We don\'t know which ones yet. We\'re are also trying to see if we can come up with more Sonic franchises - not just racing games like Riders - but other ideas as well, something suitable for Sonic\'s fans. So, I don\'t think there will be a Sonic Golf for example; that\'s not going to work! But we do want to come up with new ideas.

Well I went out and bought Sonic Rush ($40 I think maybe $30.. one of them) and I have to say, it kicks alot of ass. The thing that keeps me hooked is the music. I love Rush\'s music and the speed of the whole game. The bosses piss me off though. I think two of them look exactly alike except for coloring, but there\'s a difference between what they do. The whole trick system is \"Ok\", but I don\'t think it\'s that important to gameplay because you can fill up the boost gauge just by destroying the enemies. The trick system DOES come through at some points, but it\'s just not a huge difference maker in my opinion.

Like I said, the music is what keeps me playing the game. I think someone said that the music was by the person/people who did the music for Jet Set Radio? I liked that game\'s music too. I guess anything is better than rap.

Anyway, Go out and buy it if you have the money.

Also, the special levels piss me off too. You actually use the stylus to move sonic around on the tube thing (Which I think appeared first in Sonic 2 and this tube thing is similar to that, it\'s just you can jump off of the side into the air and do this trick for no apparent reason. Kind of like a snowboarding half-pipe or whatever) and I\'m on the last one and I just can\'t get that damn emerald.

I hate the special levels.

The music is very inspired by Jet Set Radio, but not dome by the same band. JSR and JSRF had alot of random bands and songs, even Rob Zombie had a place on the soundtrack.

I loved the special stages, but they were very frustrating. However, I never felt like they old, even after playing some of them 50 times.

Anyways, in other news the Sonic Riders site is now up
Sonic Riders Site

Has some nice details on the new characters, also if you click the \"?\" box right under Storm you\'ll get Rouge pop up.. which some one messed up on. Rouge\'s new look as just made the Rouge fan art go up 50%

Here\'s the purrrrty box art

I bought it of course, I\'d say it\'s a pretty mediocre collection as far as extras. The game has Sonic Cd though, even if it does have the lesser Spencer Nielson Soundtrack, and it\'s still the best game ever. As far as the other games go:

Sonic Fighters: Second best game on the collection, feels like Virtua Fighter 2 with Sonic. ( Which makes sense, since it was made by Sega Am2).

Sonic R: The game was never the best racing game to begin with, but it definitly shows it\'s age. The game itself is pretty mediocre, I even thought this when I first got the game back on Saturn. 6 Tracks, bad controls and virtually no replay value = Not the great.

The Game Gear Games: If you have Sonic Adventure DX, there\'s no interest here. Triple Trouble, and the impossibly hard Sonic 2 Master system are the only two good games. Tails Adventure and Sonic Drift arent half bad, but they\'re not great.

VectorMan 1 and 2: Sure they great games, but they\'re not Sonic... I would of rather had Knuckles Chaotix or SegaSonic Arcade

In conclusion, if you\'ve never played Some of the bigger games, especially Sonic Cd, it\'s worth a pick up...If you have all the games (Like me), you\'re not missing much. Companies like Capcom really took the time to develop a magnificent collection in Mega Man Anniversay Collection, Sega really only did the bear minimum.

I like how half the games on the collection werent made by sonic team

In other news: Sonic Riders, which is set to be released the first of Feb, has some levels from NiGHTS:Into Dreams, which might mean a possible playable NiGHTS. It\'s not much if you\'ve never played NiGHTS, but if you have.. it\'s damn awesome.

Sonic Riders Japanese Site
It confirms that Eggman and Amy are playable characters, even gives some screenshots of them in action (Eggman looks stange..)

There was a sheet going around with Amy,Cream,Eggman and Shadow pictures from Riders, no one could confirm it though. But seeing as how the Amy and Eggman pictures match, it basically confirms that Shadow and Cream will also be unlockable.

Characters:
Sonic
Tails
Knuckles
Jet
Web
Storm

Unlockable Characters:
Shadow
Amy
Eggman
Rouge
Cream
?
?
?
?
?

There are 10 unlockable characters, 5 unknown. My guess: Espio, Vector, Charmy, Metal and NiGHTS

anyways...this picture troubles me though

Why does that picture trouble you?

Eggman isn\'t even riding on a board :\\. Lame. I\'ll never play as him.
